Zara “Sparky” Delmore Olver, 78, of Waymart, died on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at his home with his family by his side. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, the former Elizabeth Garrity. The couple married on July 28, 1962.

Born on June 16, 1942 in Carbondale, he was the son of the late Delmore Zara and Leona (Ryder) Olver. He became a master electrician, working on his own and with Leeward Construction. He was the former president of the Hawley Ambulance.

After retiring, he enjoyed his horses and his dog. His greatest pleasure in life was spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. To say he will be truly missed is an understatement. He was the strength of his family.

Surviving are his children Joan Wontroski of Honesdale, Marie Johnson and husband Stephen of Newark, DE, Mark Zara Olver of Easley, SC and Judith Carstensen and husband William of Lyman, SC; his brother Craig Olver and wife Janet of Bethany; his sister Sylvia Hemming of England; 17 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Noelle Olver.

A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, May 30th at the family home, 906 Owego Turnpike, Waymart, PA 18472 starting at noon. Arrangements by Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale.
