Tanya Rose Serena, 62, of Honesdale, died on Monday, February 18, 2019 at Wayne Woodlands Manor in Waymart. She is survived by her husband of 12 years, Joseph Serena. The couple married on December 28, 2007.

Born on April 11, 1956 in Camp Hanford, WA, she was the daughter of the late Glenn and Madelyn (Flynn) Olver. She was a graduate of Forest City High School.

Tanya worked for many years at Bloomingdale’s in Paramus, NJ in the jewelry department. She became a very knowledgeable jeweler and even began making her own jewelry. She and Joe enjoyed many weekends at craft shows selling her jewelry. Tanya was also enjoyed writing and had several short stories published. She also enjoyed her quiet time reading.

A Boston Red Sox fan she enjoyed watching baseball with her husband and was a “Big Papi” fan cheering for David Ortiz before he retired. Tanya also loved animals.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter Kendra Rowan of Wycoff, NJ; her brother Kevin Olver and wife Anne Marie of Honesdale; sisters Glenna Baker and Cheri Durko both of Florida; step-daughters Renee Dunn and husband Curtis of Fredricksburg, VA, Stephanie Belmosto and husband James of Concord, NH, Nicole Sullivan and husband Randy of Newport News, VA, Tamara Serena and Kellashonda Serena both of Billings, MT; a grandson Preston Jones; several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale on Sunday, March 24th at 2 pm by Pastor Miguel Arenas of the Central United Methodist Church.
