Compton (Tigue) Burial Date November 29, 2023 Funeral Home Hessling Funeral Home Share your Memorial with Family & Friends Sara Jane “Sally” Compton, 81, of Hawley, died on Monday, November 27, 2023 at Mid Valley Health Care in Peckville. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Leo Compton Sr. The couple married on June 1, 1968. Born in Honesdale on April 21, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Francis Patrick and Florence (Howe) Tigue. She was raised in the Catholic faith attending St. John the Evangelist Parish in Honesdale. She later worked for Research Cottrell in New Jersey and locally for Attorney Reines Skier and Attorney Victor Decker before retiring. She was an active member of the Hawley community where she was a social member of the Hawley Fire Dept. and Methodist Womens Club at the Hawley United Methodist Church. Also surviving is her son, Leo Compton Jr. and wife Kristi of Clearwater, FL; her daughter, Neielle M. Compton at home; her sister, Margaret Tigue of Honesdale; her grandson, Justin Compton; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert and Francis “Tom” Tigue. A blessing service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 29th at Hessling Murray Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale at noon. Friends may visit on Wednesday, 10 until the time of service. Sara enjoyed crafting and making pottery in her spare time. She and her husband enjoyed traveling together and was known to collect rocks and flowers along their travels.
