Ruth Hilda ( Smith)  Miller, 91, of White Mills passed away peacefully on Tuesday December 6, 2016 at Ellen Memorial Healthcare. She was preceded in death by her husband John F. Miller in 1984.

Born on June 9, 1925 in White Mills she was the daughter of the late Horst and Augusta Smith.

Ruth worked for many years at the Silk Mill and later at the Sherman Factory prior to retirement.

Ruth has been an active member at the While Mills United Methodist Church and the Ladies Aide. She was also a member of the Red Hatters. She enjoyed many nights playing cards with her sisters and spending time with family and friends. Ruth was known in her family for her amazing cooking and special cookies at Christmas time. Any time spent with her grandchildren and great- grandchildren brought joy to her. She was proud of the closeness her family had.

Surviving is her daughter and caregiver Dawn Kretschmer and husband Richard of White Mills, a son Ronald Miller and his partner Robert Strong of Athens. Granddaughters, Tracy Simon and husband Keith of White Mills, Christine Tomazic, Carbondale and Cassandra Horton and husband Jonathan of Sayre. 6 great grandchildren: Stacey McCormick, Michael Simon, Addison Simon, McKenzie Simon, Dominick Horton- Miller and Nicholas Schrader as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was also proceeded in death by her sisters, Helen Moser, Winnie Walters, Tessie Herzog, Mildred Buddenhagen, Roma Goodman and Martha Smith and Brothers: Fred. Manfred, Clarence and an infant brother.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 10th at the White Mills United Methodist Church at 11am.  Interment will follow in Indian Orchard Cemetery.  Friends may visit Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale on Friday, 4-7.  All attending are asked to use the 5th Street Bridge entrance.

In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the White Mills United Methodist Church.
