Richard William Rickard, age 62, son of Louis Foster and Jean Mackenzie Rickard, went to be with the Lord on January 29, 2020. This truly loved man passed away surrounded by the warmth and love of family, and the very land he loved, toiled, and lived. He leaves behind the true love of his life, wife Larisa, to continue his journey to unconditionally love and nourish his beloved children Dale and Cheyenne. Dale and Cheyenne were the light of his life and the joy of his existence.

Rich and Larisa were married September 12, 2003. With much joy and happiness they welcomed their children Dale William and Cheyenne Elizabeth into their family. Being outside with his much loved family by his side and the family farm were Rich’s loves. He gave his love and life to his family, Rickard’s Cider Mill, Rickard Brother’s Farm, the Wallerville Hunting Club, The Waymart Church, and his many relatives and friends. His unselfish love was felt by all.

Rich graduated from Honesdale High School and went on to work in excavating. In 1980, he was approached by his best friend and brother, Bert, to come back to the family farm. Together they expanded the family farm using Rich’s expert mechanical skills, knowledge of all things, and talents to make it into the successful and loving endeavor it is today. He was a jack of all trades and master of all.

Bert and Rich continued to walk in tandem their entire lives. They walked through life together making decisions and supporting each other as brothers and partners. Also by his side were his son Dale, who he mentored to love the farm and land as much as he, and Jason and Christopher Rickard, whom he loved as dearly as brothers.
Rich is also survived by four of his closest friends – two brothers and two sisters – Louis and wife Virginia, Robert (Bert) and wife Inez, Susan Henry and husband Richard, Nancy Kinsman and husband George.

Jason and Christopher Rickard, Malena Kinsman Motsko, Bob and Casey Kinsman, Lucie, Dorie, and Mackenzie Henry, Brendan McDonough, Josiah, Micah, Lydia, Isaiah, Nehemiah, and Hannah Sheridan are the nephews and nieces who loved Uncle Rich.

Also surviving are mother and father-in-law, Jim and Linda Sheridan, and brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Mary Sheridan. Rich’s many close friends and relatives, who shared their lives and love with him, will round out the many who will mourn his loss.

Rich believed in Jesus Christ as his own personal savior. He is with Him now, eagerly awaiting the time when he will be reunited with his family again.

Funeral services will be on Monday, February 3rd at The Waymart Church, 596 Honesdale Road, Waymart, PA 18472 at 10 am. Interment will follow in Darling Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, 3 to 6 in the church. Arrangements by Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale.
