Raymond J. La Tournous, 89, died on Thursday, February 18, at Homeland Center in Harrisburg, Pa.
Ray is survived by two sons, Richard and wife Susan (Motichka) of Harrisburg, James and wife Nancy (Pender) of Orlando, Fla. and daughter Kathy Kovaleski and husband Tom, Hawley, Pa. Ray has two granddaughters and 3 great grandsons. His wife, Joan preceded him in death in June 2015.
Ray is a US Army veteran of WWII who served in Germany, Belgium, France and Czechoslovakia. Ray was self-employed most of his life as an accomplished glass cutter and had a life-long passion for preserving local history. He was self taught and took great pride in his knowledge and study of Dorflinger Glass and the history of the Dorflinger Glass works. He was also a leading authority on American Brilliant Period Cut Glass and a published author. Ray and Joan worked together for many years at their business R J La Tournous Cut Glass and enjoyed many great friendships in the Hawley/Honesdale area.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Feb. 26th at Queen of Peace Church, Hawley at 10am. Interment will be in Queen of Peace Cemetery in the spring. Friends may visit Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale on Thursday, 4 to 7.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wayne County Historical Society or the White Mills Dorflinger Factory Museum.
