Pablo “Paul” Luis Pons, 34, of Honesdale, died on Sunday, January 18, 2015 in an automobile accident. He is survived by his wife of 14 years, the former Maria S. Gonzalez. The couple married on April 2, 2002. Born on December 17, 1980 in Necochea, Argentina, he is the son of Luis and Maria Edith Pons of Waymart, PA. Paul and his brother, Peter owned and operated Arthur Ave. Italian Deli in Honesdale. A “family man,” Paul loved being with his son and his beloved wife. The love between Paul and Maria was described as “Puppy Love.” He would not put anything and nobody before his family. Paul and Matthew were inseparable, always playing video games and watching funny vines. Now they will enjoy each others company for eternity. Pablo will be remembered as a generous, passionate and caring person. Also surviving is his brother Peter Pons and wife Carla of Honesdale; his sister Luisa Pons of Texas; father and mother-in-law Carlos and Paquita Gonzalez of Ecuador; his nephew Julian Pons; and many customers who he developed great friendships with. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated for Pablo and his son Matthew on Friday, Jan. 23rd at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Honesdale at 10am. His family will receive friends on Thursday at Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale. Memorial contributions can be made to the Matthew and Paul Pons Memorial Fund, c/o Wayne Bank, P.O.
