Maruja Rossi Ruperti, 95, died on Wednesday, February 13, 2019, at home surrounded by the love of her family. She resided in Cherry Ridge for many years with her daughter and son-in-law and her great grandchildren.

Maruja, often called “Maria” was born in Ecuador. She was the daughter of the late Francisco and Zoraida Rossi. She was one of twelve children.

Maruja came to the United States in 1959. She lived a very full life; dedicated to working hard and caring for her daughter and her son.

Maruja enjoyed expressing her devotion to her family with her delicious food and great advice. Over the years, the visits from all her family members is what she loved talking about most. In 1971 Maruja married Ranulfo Ruperti. They enjoyed a beautiful life together for thirty one years until his passing in 2002.

Maruja is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sonia and Michael Paloy and her son, Juan Flood. She is also survived by her five sisters and one brother.

She enjoyed a life of being surrounded by family especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her 8 grandchildren who extended her joy with giving her 17 great-grandchildren and the most recent birth of her 1 great great-grandson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 16th at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Honesdale at 10 am. Friends may visit Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale on Friday, 4 to 7. Interment will be in Indian Orchard Cemetery in the spring.
