Martin “Marty” Geer, 69, of Honesdale, died on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit in Dunmore. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, the former Erin Dean. The couple married on October 20, 1986.

Born on November 20, 1945 in New York City, he was the son of the late Rexford and Anna Balkonis Geer. He was a graduate of Waymart High School. He was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

Marty was employed at SCI Waymart where he was a manager until his retirement. He was a member of the Waymart Hunting Club and an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed trips to New York with his son-in-law.

Surviving are his sons Robert Doherty and fiancée Michele Borthwick of Bethany; daughters Laura Beard and husband Robert of Quarryville, PA and Sharon Wilson and husband Mark of Stahlstown, PA; a sister Joanne Wilczynski and husband Joseph; grandchildren Mallory and Robert Beard, Joshua and Jordan Wilson and Bryce and Olivia Doherty; several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 18th at 11 am at Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale. The family will receive friends on Saturday, 9 to service time. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Honesdale.

Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 100 William St. Dunmore, PA 18512.
