Madlyn I. (Brining) Miller, 96, of Equinunk, died on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at Wayne Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald A. Miller on February 28, 1999.

Born on October 9, 1925 in Equinunk, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Bertha (Varcoe) Brining. She was a graduate of Hancock Central High School.

For 50 years, Madlyn worked at Day’s Bakery in Honesdale. She was an Avon representative for 40 years, enjoying the time visiting with her customers and delivering the products.

She was a lifelong member of Union United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.

Madlyn enjoyed crossword puzzles, embroidery and having coffee with her friends. She also enjoyed bus trips and traveling.

Surviving are her sons, Berton Miller and wife Marge of Honesdale, Bernie Miller and wife Heather of Equinunk and Jeff Harris and wife Cathy of Damascus; her daughters, Beryl Van Wyckhouse of Equinunk, Patricia Hanley and husband Ray of Clifford and Laurie Stookey and husband Todd of Sterling; 23 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, 12 great great grandchildren and 2 to be announced. She is also survived by countless others who called Madlyn “Gram” or “Mom.”

She was preceded in death by her sister, Mamie Day; 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and 3 sons-in-law.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 24th at Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale at 10 am by Rev. Pat Lee of Light of Christ Church, Mount Cobb. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, Equinunk. Friends may visit on Tuesday, 3 to 7.
