Judith Marie Murtha, 88, of Honesdale, Passed Away after a long illness, in the presence of her daughter and family on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center in Liberty, NY.

Born on November 3, 1934 in Hancock, NY, she was the daughter of the late Sherman B. and Edna Pauline (Ulsafer) Putman. For many years She assisted her former husband, Richard Murtha at Judy’s Place on Terrace Street in Honesdale . Judith worked as a case manager for the Office of Aging in Wayne County from January 1992 until Retiring on Janurary 2010.

Judith loved animals, traveling, gardening, drawing, and going for walks.

She is Survived by her son, Donald Box and wife Melody Kenyan of Galilee; her daughter, Terry Freiermuth and husband Dennis of Liberty, NY; her brothers, Allan Putman and wife Myra, Sherman Putman, Jr. and wife Cheryele ; Mark Putman and wife Jasmine; her grandchildren, Christie Failla and husband Bobby; Randy Freiermuth and wife Cheyenne; Jamie Box and husband Frank Racht; Nathaniel and Ethan Box; great grandchildren, Heather Failla (Husband Laszlo Vasarhelyi) , Christopher Failla, Andrew Failla; Raven Freiermuth, Takoda Freiermuth; Austin Racht and Tyler Racht; great great grandchildren, Katerina and Logan Vasarhelyi; Two Special Niece’s Julie Tonetti and daughter Sierria ; and Shawnna Armstrong and daughter Ellyana ; And Her cats Buddy and Felix.

Judith was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Sarah E. Box; her sister, Melinda Putman Leslie and her former husband and friend, Richard Murtha.

Judith was a Very loving mother and grandmother, and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, Jan. 7th at Hessling Murray Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale, 10 until 12. A memorial service will be held at noon. Interment will be private and at the convenience of her family.

In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be made in Judith’s memory to the Dessen Animal Shelter 138 Miller Dr. Honesdale Pa. 18431
