John E. “Jack” Buddenhagen, 82, of Honesdale, died on January 3, 2024 at Allied Hospice in Scranton.

Born on November 16, 1941 in Honesdale, he was the son of the late Charles and Margaret (Bannon) Buddenhagen. He often recalled fond memories of growing up on the family farm. Jack was a graduate of Honesdale High School and a US Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War.

Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, he started his family and worked for National Cash Register (NCR) in PA and Ithaca, NY. They eventually moved to Florida where he continued to work as a repair technician. He later settled back in Honesdale where Jack worked for Katz Factory until they closed. Before retiring, he worked at B&B Dodge.

Learning some skills from his father, Jack enjoyed woodworking and made furniture and gifts for family and friends that will continually remind them of him. A quiet man, he enjoyed time at home, cooking and gardening. Most of all, Jack loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren.

Surviving is his daughter, Amy Pearson and husband Ken Pennell of FL; his brothers, Bob Buddenhagen and Helen of NY and Gary Buddenhagen and Janet of CT; sisters, Joan Trachtenberg and Jesse of PA, Jean LaPoint of PA, Debbie Rickert and Bobby of PA and Kathy Warring and Jimmy of PA; grandchildren, Corey Pearson and Aileen of Richmond, VA, Brianna Struble and Andrew of Richmondale, PA, Skylar Pearson and Hassan of Windsor, Ontario and Gabriel Allie of Honesdale; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Owen and Caylen Struble, Liam Jack and Zoe Pearson; and a great grandchild, Aria, due soon.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Buddenhagen.

A celebration of life will be held locally in the summer, Jack’s favorite time of year. Arrangements by Hessling Murray Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale.
