Jeanine Schmidt, 79, of Milanville, died on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband Paul Schmidt on August 3, 1999. The couple married on May 26, 1956. Born on May 8, 1935 in Maspeth, NY, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Helen Rudzewicz DeSandre. She retired from Universal Electric where she was a secretary. Jeanine was a faithful member of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Honesdale, attending St. Bernard’s Church in Beach Lake. She enjoyed reading and traveling with “Our Crowd.” Surviving are her sons Kenneth Schmidt and wife Melinda of Ozone Park, NY and Steven Schmidt and wife Grace of Patterson, NY; her daughter Susan Cataudella of Milanville; a sister Barbara England-Lode and husband Tenny of Boulder, CO; grandchildren Joseph Cataudella, Bryan, Toniann, Paul, and Jessica Schmidt; great grandchildren Shyann, Anthony and Max; her grand dogs, Freckles, Ziggy and Patches. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 21st at St. John the Evangelist Church, Honesdale at 9 am. Entombment will be in Cemetery of the Resurrection, Staten Island, NY. Friends may visit 2 to 5 on Thursday at Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, 712 S. Keyser Ave., Taylor, PA 18517 or St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
