Jean Christine (Babel) Oprisko, 89, of Honesdale, died on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at Wayne Woodands Manor in Waymart.

Born on August 8, 1933 in the Bronx, NY, she was the daughter and last surviving member of the late Stephen and Ethel (Thek) Babel family. She graduated from Narrowsburg High School, class of 1951 and in 1956 graduated from Wayne Commercial School.

She began working for Attorney Maxwell in Honesdale as a legal secretary. Before retiring, Jean worked at Wayne Memorial Hospital and volunteered at the Wayne County Library.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, John Babel and wife Helen, William Babel and wife Marie and Frank Babel; her daughter Aimee Oprisko Bose; her granddaughter, Christina Menotti.

She is survived by her daughter Susan Menotti and husband John of Hawley; her son Michael Oprisko and companion Jessica of Pleasant Mount; her grandson, Domenick Menotti and wife Darnesha of Queen Creek, AZ; a great grandson Domenick Menotti; a great granddaughter, Marcella Menotti. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Jean was known for her sense of humor and quick wit. She was also known for her great cooking and baking skills which will be missed by all her family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 8th at 11 am at Hessling Murray Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale. The family will receive friends on Friday, 4 to 7 at the funeral home.
