Jean A. Avery, 89, of Beach Lake, passed away peacefully to the Lord on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Millard Avery on March 29, 2010. The couple married on March 26, 1950.

Born on February 8, 1931 in Welcome Lake, she was the daughter and last surviving member of the Farmer and Florence (Hessberger) Miller family.

Jean and her husband owned and operated Evergreen Lodge in Beach Lake for 26 years.

She was a member of the Beach Lake Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and a faithful member of the Beach Lake United Methodist Church.

A loving grandmother, she played a role in raising all her grandchildren. She loved cooking, word searches and ceramics.

Surviving are her sons Fred and wife Theresa of Beach Lake, Charles and wife Karen of Honesdale and Ricky and wife Debbie of Beach Lake; Michele and companion Tim, Samantha and husband Jarrod, Melissa and husband Michael, Andrea, Randee and husband Russell, Eric and wife Marisa, her former grandson-in-law Danny; step-grandchildren Anthony and Michael Zirpolli; great grandchildren Victoria, Emma, Zachary, Ethan, Elliot, Abigail, Nicholas, Avery, Madison, Dominik and Raeghan.

She was preceded in death by her son Randy; grandsons Edward and Charles Avery Jr.; her brothers Glenford, Raymond, Floyd, and Russell Miller and her sister Ruth Case.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 26th at the Beach Lake United Methodist Church at noon. Arrangements by Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale, PA 18431.
