Janine Maree Donofry went home to her Lord on Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at Temple University Hospital, after a valiant struggle with cancer. She was 37 years old. A native of Dyberry in Wayne County, Janine was the daughter of Michael and Joan Harvey Donofry. Her brothers, Jason and Jonathan of Dyberry survive her as well as her grandmother, Jeanne Daub of Honesdale. Also surviving are her aunts and uncles: Paul and Diane Mott, Jan and Tim Kohrs of Dyberry, and Howard and Mary Bryant of Honesdale, as well as her cousins: Bruce, Kim, Emma, and Brandon Lawson of Milanville, and James M. Hunter of Washington. Janine was predeceased by her beloved grandparents, Alton and Shirley Harvey, and her Aunt Dorie Wilmarth.

Leaving Dyberry for a time after her 2002 graduation from Honesdale High School, Janine went on to receive a BS in Elementary Education from Marywood University and a MS in Special Education from East Stroudsburg University. She was employed by Wayne Highlands School District and The Wayne County Fair Association. Janine was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church.

Janine was a quiet girl who embraced a peaceful and gentler way of life. She truly loved living on Har-V-Hill Farm. It was a life that suited her and one that blessed those around her. Janine had such a big heart and would help anybody or take care of any need no matter how large or small or who was in need. She would be there. With her family as her center, Janine lived simply. It was her choice, perhaps because growing up around family and farm as she did, she just could not picture herself anywhere else. She made her life’s home in the Harvey homestead right next door to her Aunt Diane and Uncle Paul. Just across the street from her parents, Mike and Joan, she was always within shouting distance of family members with her older brothers, Jason and Jon, on the opposite side of the street, and her Aunt Jan and Uncle Tim just a small pasture away.

A solid and always helpful member of the community in which she made her home, Janine was a moving force with the Wayne County Fair, having spent many years working with folks to bring the fair to many and to do so with order and expertise. She was honored to be an Associate Director.

An affinity for all things agriculture, Janine turned her hand to the raising of her own crops on the Harvey Farm. Ducks, chickens, and pigs were her passion and through her training from years spent in Bethany 4H, and her time well spent alongside grandparents and parents to guide her, she did it well. Janine loved her animal family-cats-Bayley and Thunder, and her pigs, especially Tres. Passionate about working with children, Janine knew great joy with her students at Lakeside Elementary, and found faithful friends there, whom she cherished. Janine was also blessed with longtime and childhood friends, whom she loved and from whom she received faithful love and support.

Services for Janine will be private, with her close family only. Memorial donations in loving memory of Janine may be made to Billy’s New Hope Barn,349 Schoolhouse Rd., Honesdale, PA 18431 or Area P Special Olympics, P.O. Box 188, Carbondale, PA 18407.
