Jane “Moffitt” Parrish, age 94, passed away on January 21st at the Wayne Woodlands Manor nursing home in Waymart where she has resided since 2011. Jane was born in Carbondale but lived most of her life in Honesdale and Lake Ariel. She was a graduate of Honesdale High School class of 1942 and worked for many years as a telephone operator for the Bell Telephone Company in Honesdale. When the telephone network automated, Jane changed careers and became employed by the Katz Underwear Company as a seamstress. Upon retirement from Katz in the 1980s, she formed and developed Jane’s Antiques and Collectables which she enjoyed operating until 2011.

Jane is survived by her son Dan, daughter in law Marsha, grandson Christopher, sister Kathleen Smith, and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her parents, Leonard and Alice Moffitt, her sister Patricia, and brothers Gerald, William, Thomas, and Edward Moffitt.

The family would like to sincerely thank the entire staff of Wayne Woodlands Manor and Dr. Paula Bennett for their many years of providing her with professional and compassionate care.

As per her request, cremation will be held and a Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, January 28th at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Honesdale at 10 am.  Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery in the spring.  Arrangements by Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wayne County Historical Society, 810 Main St., Honesdale, Pa. 18431.  Jane had a keen interest in Wayne County history and was a supporter of the Society.
