Eileen P. E. Chew, 63, of Hawley, died on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Wayne Memorial Hospital. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Gregory S. Chew. The couple married on April 16, 1988.

Born on October 16, 1959 in Okinawa, Japan, she was the daughter of the late George and Marguerite (Donaldson) Stammler. She received her nursing degree from Marymount College in Salina, KS. She worked as a registered nurse for 40 years most recently at St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma, WA and attended Seton Hall University and Pacific Lutheran University. Eileen was extremely proud of all her accomplishments and her dedication to her nursing career. She was also proud of her Outstanding Young Women of America nomination and her sports awards and achievements.

Eileen loved traveling and in her younger years enjoyed camping. She also enjoyed spending her time working on arts and crafts, baking, cooking, day trips, antiquing movies and spicy foods. She loved animals, especially her corgis. Most of all, Eileen enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son William Chew of Hawley, PA; her daughter Elizabeth Chew of Hawley, PA; her brother William Stammler; her half sister, Carol Hakim of Mumbai, India

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Philip and Andrew Stammler.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Hessling Murray Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale.
