Dear Barbara and Karen, I am so sorry. What a shock it was to look at yesterday's paper. One recent memory: several years ago I was attending an Alzheimer's Forum in DC. I was literally behind Ed on the security line for the Congressional offices. . We had a very brief conversation since we were both in a rush. One of my sons is a few years older than Ed. Both had red hair and glasses. There was a lad lived very close to Rileyville corners, (can't remember her name.)when she wanted to say something about Ed would say: oh, you know that red-head who isn't your son. My thoughts and prayers are with you both and with his children. Much too young! Mimi

I worked with Ed when he was on Capitol Hill, and he was always such a friendly colleague. When I went to work for a new member of Congress, Ed called to make sure that both my boss and I had him as a resource to explain all of the budget nuances. The gesture was incredibly kind and so helpful, which is how I will always remember Ed. I hope for peace for Ed's friends and family now and always. My deepest sympathies.
