Dr. Duane Eldon Woods, Jr

Dr. Duane Eldon Woods, Jr., DDS, 60 of Honesdale and formerly of Beaverton, MI, died on February 2, 2014 at his home. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, the former Maedine Marie Crum. The couple married on July 12, 1977. Born on December 3, 1953 in Midland, MI, he was the son of the late Duane and Patricia Ames Woods. He was a graduate of Bay City High School and later enlisted in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. Later he received his Doctorate in Dentistry from Marquette University. Before retiring, Duane owned his own dentist practice in Beaverton, MI. A well known storyteller, Duane enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a proud member of the NRA. Also surviving are his daughters Hunter and Dorothy Woods both at home; his brothers Jim Woods and wife Debbie of Beaverton, MI and Michael Woods of Michigan; his sister Marcia Woods of Sault Ste. Marie, MI; nieces Ginger Pulley and Trisha Demski and nephews Jimmie and Matthew Woods. A memorial service with military honors will be held at Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale at 6 pm. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to service time.
