Batzel Funeral Home Hessling Funeral Home Share your Memorial with Family & Friends Dolores Batzel, 76, of Waymart, PA passed away peacefully at home with her loved ones by her side on December 12, 2023. She was born January 8, 1947 to the late John and Alice (DeGroat) Bidwell on a U.S. Army base in Garmische, Germany. She was the 2nd of 5 girls. In 1962, she married the late Charlie Batzel. They had six children together. After they separated, Dolores and her life long best friend, Deb, moved in together and have lived with each other for the last 40 years. She worked many years as a CNA in a couple local nursing homes. After surviving cancer twice, she worked as a gate guard at Camp Moshava. She was known as Mom and Grandma to many that she took in as her own. Surviving her are her sisters; Nancy Campen (Jay Thomas) of Paupack, PA, Marlene (Barry) McMullen and Fern (Pat) Rippy of Waymart, PA. Her children Wanda Smith of Ephrata, PA, Kenny (Cindy) Batzel of Honesdale, PA, Mike (Marissa) Batzel, Kolleen Boots (Byron Webb Jr.) of Waymart, PA and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sons, Scott and Raymond Batzel, her grandson, Kyle Smith and her sister, Faye Herold. Per her request, donations can be made to any local animal shelters. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, January 28th at the White Mills Fire Department, 1 to 5.
