Debra Christine Renn, 63, of Lake Como, died on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton. She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Thomas A. Renn. The couple married on October 12, 1996.

Born on January 7, 1959 in Wilkes-Barre, PA, she was the daughter of the late Leon and Joane (Leroy) Hanadel. Following high school, she worked in retail. She later received an associates degree in journalism from Luzerne County Community College.

Debra began her career as a journalist with The Hideabout in Lake Ariel. She then worked at the Wayne Independent and News Eagle. She enjoyed working for the papers and quickly became known at the schools as the “Picture Lady” following the school activities for the papers.

In her spare time, Debra continued her love of photography taking pictures of nature. She also enjoyed fishing, camping, ice skating and crafting.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Nichole Ostopowicz and her husband Edward of Nanticoke; her brother Kenneth Hanadel and partner Diane of Swoyersville; her grandson Seth Horst of Larksville; nieces.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 28th at Hessling Murray Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale at 1 pm. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, 12 until the time of service.

Memorial contributions can be made to the United Way.
