He and his wife enjoyed taking care of the many animals and loved having his dog by his side.

While living in Riverdale, he was a volunteer with the Riverdale Police Dept. helping patrol the community and a member of their pistol team. Before settling in Dyberry Township, he was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Pompton Lakes. He was also a former member of the Marine Corp League.

Dave enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and snowmobiling.

Surviving is his son, David G. Hartung and wife Susan of Honesdale; his daughters, Patricia Huber of Beach Lake and Sharon Barnett and husband John of Honesdale; 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and one due in May. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
