Anna Marion Bishop, 87, of Honesdale, died on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Julia Ribaudo Extended Care Center in Lake Ariel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin M. Bishop on May 15, 1992.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Irene Gilroy. Known by family and friends as Marion, she worked for many years at the Miracle Market in Honesdale in their bakery. She later retired from the Wayne County Courthouse where she documented microfilm.

Marion was a faithful member of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Honesdale. She loved being with her family and was extremely proud of her grandchildren and their accomplishments. They will miss her kindness and sense of humor most of all.

Surviving is her son Martin Michael Bishop and wife Bonnie of Prompton; her sister, Carol Ann Quinn of FL; her brother, John Gilroy of Brooklyn, NY; her sister-in-law Gay Gilroy of AK; her grandchildren, Christopher Bishop and Katherine Bishop, MD. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Gilroy.

A special thank you to the Julia Ribaudo staff for their care and compassion.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 21st at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Honesdale at 10 am. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Arrangements by Hessling Murray Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale.
