Ann Marie Marcinkus, 84, formerly of Pleasant Mount, died on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Wayne Woodlands Manor where she was residing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edmund M. Marcinkus on May 19, 1995. The couple married on September 29, 1956.

Born on January 29, 1932 in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Sarah Ratchford Sweeney. A housewife and mother, she also worked as a seamstress at Kar-Tri in Forest City until her retirement.

Ann was a member of St. Juliana’s Catholic Church in Rock Lake and always volunteered at the annual Rock Lake Picnic. She enjoyed spending time with her friends playing Bingo and was a member of the Red Hat Society. She loved to travel and go shopping.

Surviving are her sons James and wife Kathy and David of Pleasant Mount, Thomas and wife Amy of Mount Dora, FL and Michael and wife Wendy of Susquehanna; a brother Gene Sweeney and wife Jean of Tampa, FL; 15 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son Edmund Jr. in 1967; brothers Frank, Jim and Joe Sweeney; sisters Mary Marcinkus and Sally Donvito.

Ann’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Wayne Woodlands Manor for their exceptional care.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 16th at St. Juliana’s Church in Rock Lake at 9 am. Interment will follow in St. Juliana’s Cemetery. Arrangements by Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, can be made to the Wayne Woodlands Manor Activities Fund, 37 Woodlands Dr. Waymart, PA 18472.
