Earl John Appel, 63 of Lookout (Equinunk), died peacefully in his sleep on Friday, February 7, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, the former Karen D. Arnold. The couple married on November 30, 1980. Born on April 28, 1950 in Callicoon, NY, he is the son of Melvin and Myrtle (Schumann) Appel of Honesdale. He attended Honesdale High School and had held several jobs before purchasing and operating the Long Branch Saloon for the last 12 years. Also surviving is his son Terry Appel and wife Stephanie Marks; a step-daughter Tobey Reppard; three grandsons Logan and Mason Reppard and Ash Parker Appel; his sisters Cherie Gilbert and husband Stephen and Bonnie Korb and husband John; several nephews, a niece and their families. Cremation services are being arranged by Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale. As per his request, there will be no funeral services. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name should be made to a children’s charity of the donors choice. |
