Milagros “Millie” Salvato, 74, of Honesdale, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at her home. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Robert Salvato. The couple married on August 2, 1969. Born on November 17, 1944 in San Tuce, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Rafael Torres and Inez Sierra Torres. She and her family moved to Bronx, NY when she was three and in 1962 she graduated from Walton High School in the Bronx. She later attended Hunter College in New York. Millie worked many years as a medical transcriber, first at Mary Immaculate Hospital in Queens, NY and later at Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton. Before retiring, she worked from home. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Honesdale. She enjoyed taking care of her home, arts and crafts, puzzles and watching movies. She and her husband Bob loved animals and many would find a home with them. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Adam J. Salvato of Honesdale and Justin M. Salvato and wife Lisa of Matamoras, PA; her granddaughter Charlotte Salvato; her sister Penelope Perris. A blessing service will be held on Saturday, January 12th at 10 am Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale. The family will receive friends on Saturday, 9 until the time of service. Private interment will be in St. Raymond’s Cemetery, Bronx, NY. |
