Evelyn Adele Theresa Jones, 67, of Honesdale, died November 12, 2014 at home. She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Dick” Jones on October 28, 2012. The couple married on August 5, 1967. Born in Callicoon, NY on July 25, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Percy Tyler and Ruth (Clevenz) Tyler. Evelyn went to the 1 room schoolhouse in Milanville until the 6th grade, and then on to Damascus High School where she graduated in 1965. One of her first jobs was a switchboard operator in Beach Lake at the Big Eddy Telephone Company. After graduation Evelyn attended the Wayne Commercial School. Once her secretarial instruction was finished she worked at Bethany Colony where she met her best friend and future husband. From this point she has touched so many peoples lives. Because of Evelyn’s high work ethic and caring for people, her career took her to the Ellen Memorial Nursing Home, Wayne County Area on Aging, and lastly, to Wayne County Children and Youth. Even though she retired April 2013, her caring for people never ended. Through Evelyn’s 3 years of battling cancer she worried more about everyone else and how she could help them. Evelyn is survived by her son Christopher and fiancĂ©e Maureen, Hawley; son Kevin, Honesdale; daughter Laura Resti and husband Patrick, Honesdale; and daughter Marion LeStrange and husband Sean, Honesdale; Sisters, Carol Welton and husband Alan, Milanville; Joyce Stokes and husband Joe, Harleysville; Grandchildren, Heather Jones, Emma, William and Lilly Long, Anthony Resti and Seth LeStrange. She is preceded in death by brother, David Tyler in 1991. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 17th at 10:00am at St. Mary’s Magdalen Church. Entombment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst. Friends may visit Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. on Sunday from 2 to 5.
