Nancy W. Daniels, 80, of Honesdale, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 4, 2017 at Wayne Woodlands Manor in Waymart. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Gerald D. Daniels. The couple married on March 24, 1956. Born on December 24, 1936 in Honesdale, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Gertrude Williams Werner. After graduating from Honesdale Catholic High School, she worked at A&P Market in Honesdale. Later, she embraced the role as a loving housewife and mother. Nancy also loved caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Honesdale and was the past Judge of Elections for Dyberry Township. Before taking ill, she volunteered at the Wayne County Senior Center and was a faithful blood donor for the American Red Cross. In her spare time, Nancy enjoyed reading and puzzles. Surviving are her sons Michael Daniels and wife Marianne of Honesdale, Jeffrey Daniels and wife Jan of Beach Lake, Patrick Daniels and wife Kimberly of Honesdale and Brian Daniels of Honesdale; her daughters Katherine Darling and husband Daniel of Santee, CA and Amy Costantino and husband Joel of Waymart; her brother William Werner and wife Peg of Honesdale; sister-in-law Roberta Rudowicz of Honesdale; 16 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Terry Werner. Nancy’s family would like to thank Dr. Paula Bennett, the staff of Wayne Woodlands Manor and Wayne Memorial Hospice for their care during her illness. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 9th at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Honesdale at 10am. The family will receive friends at Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale on Thursday, 4 to 7pm. In lieu of flowers, Nancy had requested that you visit someone in a nursing home or hospital as an act of kindness. |
