Margery Ann Ordnung, 72, of Honesdale, died on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at home surrounded by family and friends after a long battle with Alzheimers’s.
“Margie” is survived by her husband of 51 years, Clark Walter Ordnung. The couple married on March 1, 1965.
She is also survived by her five children and their families: Clark Ordnung, his wife Donna and their son Wylie, Mark Ordnung, his wife Stephanie and their children Corey, Dylan, Matthew, Adrianne and Olivia, Michelle Werner, her husband David and their children Jonathan and Allison, Michael Ordnung, and Jeff Ordnung, his wife Cassie and their children Brice, Drake and Jayce.
Born on October 21, 1944 in Honesdale, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Elsie Holl Carroll. She graduated from Honesdale High School.
Margie was well known for her hard work ethic and energetic personality. She worked from the time she was twelve years old and loved serving people. In December of 1982, she and Clark co-founded Clark’s Sunrise Market in Honesdale. Cooking for her customers and spending time with her work family became her passion and her famous recipes are still prepared in her kitchen every day. In addition to working, her loves included cooking meals for her family, traveling, gambling, playing Hazi, listening to music, camping, crocheting, golfing, gardening, spoiling her grandchildren and Boo Boo, and doing anything and going anywhere that Clark, the love of her life, wanted.
Also surviving are sister-in-law Judy Romich and husband John, sister-in-law Dorothy Ridgeway, sister Connie Wash, brother Andrew James “Jim” Carroll and his wife Sharon, brother Robert “Bob” Carroll, sister-in-law Jane Carroll Bunnell and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 10th at St. John the Evangelist Church, Honesdale at 10 am. Interment will follow in Bethany Cemetery. Friends may visit Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale on Friday, 4 to 8.
