Ronald L. Fullem, 88, of Honesdale, died on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at his home. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, the former Grace M. Hudson. The couple married on November 21, 1951. Born on August 15, 1928 in Uniontown, PA, he was the son of the late Homer Leroy and Kathryn Varndell Fullem. He was a 20 year US Air Force veteran serving during the Korean War and Vietnam War until retiring in 1970. He achieved the rank of Master Sergeant receiving the Air Force Longevity Service Award with 3 Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters and the Air Force Good Conduct medal with 2 Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters. He worked in air traffic control with the handle name “Easy Mike.” Following his retirement from the Air Force, he and his family moved to Honesdale in 1972 from Peru, Indiana. He began working at S.J. Bailey and Sons where he was the maintenance supervisor until his retirement at the age of 72. Later with his beautiful wife Grace, they worked in the parts department at B&B Dodge. Ron was a member and held several positions in the Beekeepers Association and was very involved with the annual chicken barbecue. He enjoyed being a member of the 9:30 S.J. Bailey’s coffee and donut club. He had a passion for carpentry and building items for his children and grandchildren. Ron also looked forward to the yearly buck hunt at the Brussells farm. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons Richard Fullem of Cobbs Creek, VA and Ronald Dean Fullem and wife Susan of Honesdale; his daughters Deborah Fullem of Peru, IN and Darlene Carole Fullem and husband Richard Lanzoni Jr. of Honesdale; a brother Glen Homer “Skip” Fullem of Uniontown, PA; grandchildren Christina Knotts, Grace Smith, Aleaha Brown, Megan Fullem and Chelsea Fullem; 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law Barbara Fullem and 2 brothers Robert Fullem and Harold “Happy” Fullem. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 13th at Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale at 11am. Interment will follow in Calkins Union Cemetery. Friends may visit on Wednesday, 5 to 7. |
