George A. Taylor

George A. Taylor, 93, of Lakewood, died peacefully on Sunday, July 5, 2026. He is survived by his wife of 75 years, the former Verna D. Robbins. The couple married on November 21, 1950.

Born on May 13, 1933 in Lake Como, he was the son of the late Herbert and Katherine (Burdick) Taylor.
George lived a life full of creativity, hard work, and dedication, earning the title of “Jack of all Trades,” and master of none.

George began his remarkable journey at a young age, starting his own logging business at just 13 years old. His passion for craftsmanship led him to work in a stone quarry, where he showcased his talent by building beautiful stone walls that stand as a testament to his skill. An accomplished carpenter, George, alongside his beloved wife, constructed their family home, a space filled with love and cherished memories.

In addition to his work in logging and carpentry, George served the community through his role with Buckingham Township and contributed his talents to the Equinunk Cemetery Association. His commitment to his work and community has left an indelible mark on the lives he touched.

George will be remembered not only for his diverse skills but also for his warm heart, generous spirit, and unwavering work ethic. He was a beloved figure to his family and friends, who will miss his wisdom, laughter, and kindness.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Delores Rutledge of Lakewood, Helen Jack and husband Richard, of Kittaning, PA, Linda Ferris of Hancock and Kathy Stanton and husband Frank of Equinunk; his son, Jerry Taylor of Wilkes Barre; his sisters, Janet Hanstine and husband Pete and Joann Carbonaro all of Lakewood. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his sons, George and James Taylor; his daughters, Rena Smith and Rosemary Teja; his brother, Lewis Taylor; his sister, Isobel Kruchas.

Graveside services will be held at the Equinunk Cemetery on Saturday, July 11th at 1 pm.  A gathering will follow for family and friends.  Arrangements by Hessling Murray Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale.
