Michael J. Dieterich

Michael J. Dieterich, 64, of Hawley, died on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at his home.

Born November 18, 1961, in New Brunswick, NJ he was a son of the late Rudolph A. and Anne M. (Gumpper) Dieterich.

He graduated from Bridgewater-Raritan High School in Bridgewater New Jersey and received a bachelor’s degree from The Culinary Institute of America.

Mike will be remembered as an excellent chef. He owned and operated the former Mike’s Cozy Kitchen and also worked at other local restaurants.  To him cooking was not just a career but a passion as well.

He loved living at the lake and enjoyed anything that went along with lake living, including boating and fishing.

Surviving are four children, Renee McAndrew and husband Ryan of Pleasant Mount, Michael Dieterich and his wife Kelly of Damascus, Matthew Dieterich and his wife Sydney of Beach Lake, and Alex Dieterich and his fiancée Haily Merritt of Honesdale; 7 grandchildren and a brother Gerald A Dieterich of Hawley; and a nephew Tyler Dieterich of Westernville, NY.

He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter Kyla Schwesinger.
