Shirley Brown (Aileo)

Shirley Brown, 82, of Hawley, died on Monday, August 19, 2024 at Ellen Memorial Health Care Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Brown Sr. on February 2, 2017. The couple married on June 16, 1962.

Born on January 10, 1942 in Honesdale, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Lily Mary (Scholl) Aileo. Before retiring, Shirley worked at the former Fishkill Health Center as an activities aide.

She attended B.V.M. Queen of Peace Church in Hawley and recently at St. Rose Church in Carbondale with her sister. Shirley enjoyed reading, watching EWTN and praying the Rosary daily.

Surviving are her children, Diane White and husband James of Beacon, NY, Kathleen Lane and husband, William of Pleasant Valley, NY and Eugene Brown Jr. of Hawley; her sister, Diane Galati of Carbondale; her grandchildren, James Ryan White and wife Meagan and Lauren LaBarbera and husband Brian; great grandsons, James Thomas and Elias Henry White.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 27th at St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale at 10 am. Interment will follow in Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill. Arrangements by Hessling Murray Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale.
