William John Rogers, 51, of Honesdale, died unexpectedly on Sunday, August 14, 2016 at his home. He is survived by his wife of 15 years, the former Jaclyn A. Schwarz. The couple married on May 19, 2001.

Born on October 25, 1964 in Honesdale, he is the son of Doris Theobald Rogers of Honesdale and the late William E. Rogers. He was a graduate of Honesdale High School, class of 1982. Bill was sole owner of Rogers Home Improvement and had many completed and ongoing projects throughout the county.

A loving father and active in his children’s lives, Bill helped coach them in Biddy Basketball, Missy Basketball and Stingers Football. An avid golfer, he was a member of the Honesdale Golf Club and loved his Thursday night golfing buddies. He enjoyed the NCAA Monday night gatherings and cheering for the Dallas Cowboys. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Honesdale and St. John the Evangelist Parish in Honesdale.

Also surviving is his son Kane; his daughter Chloe both at home; a brother Bob Rogers and wife Peggy of Honesdale; sisters Carolyn Freberg and husband Don of Carlisle, PA, Barbara Rogers and husband Ron Domurat of Martha’s Vineyard, MA and Maggie Giannelli and husband John of Camp Hill, PA; his mother and father-in-law John and Joan Schwarz; 7 nephews and 1 niece.

Bill was bigger than life and his boisterous personality and laugh were infectious. All who knew him, loved him.

Our beloved Billy, husband, father, son, brother and uncle was the light of our lives and will be deeply missed all the days of our lives.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 19th at St. John the Evangelist Church, Honesdale at 10am. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Friends may visit Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale on Thursday, 4 to 8.
