William J. Hopkins, Jr., 84, of Honesdale, died on Monday, July 7, 2014 at Gino J. Merli Veterans Center in Scranton. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Eleanor Louise Eisenhauer on April 2, 2014. The couple married on October 28, 1950 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Waldwick, NJ. Born on January 21, 1930 in Waldwick, NJ, he was the son of the late William J. and Anna Dyer Hopkins. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. He began his construction career with his father at Hopkins and Son in New Jersey. Later he continued doing construction in the Lake Ariel and Honesdale areas and became a well known craftsman. He later retired from C & D Construction. Bill enjoyed listening to music and dancing. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Honesdale and VFW Post 531 in Honesdale. Surviving are his sons William and wife Lori of Hawley, Jeffry and wife Mary Ann of Macungie, Paul and Beth of Honesdale and Michael and wife Karen of Lake Ariel; daughters Jo Ann Kent and companion James Kane of Sault Ste. Marie, MI and Janet Fullwood and husband John of Lake Ariel; a brother John Hopkins and wife Elaine of Goshen, NY; a sister Margaret McGrath and husband Roger of NC; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers Edward and Kenneth and his grandson Gary Hopkins. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 15th at St. Mary Magdalen Church, Honesdale at 10am. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Friends may visit Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale on Monday from 4 to 7. Memorial contributions can be made to Gino J.
