Val M. Rommel
On Saturday, November 16, 2024, Val Michael Rommel heard the words of his Savior, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” He was predeceased by his parents, Dr. Richard W. & Isla (Mudge) Rommel, and his son, Jacob Richard Rommel. He is survived by Amy (Marks), his loving wife of 34 years, two daughters, Stephanie (Richard) Bradshaw of Forty Fort, PA, and Alita (Kurt) Soulsby of Jessup, PA,  his brother, Mal (Barbara) Rommel of Mesa AZ, 10 wonderful grandchildren of whom he was very proud, and many loved nieces and nephews.
Known as Pastor Val to parishioners and friends, he devoted his life to serving his Lord in local churches in the Endicott and Nichols, NY and Wellsboro, Noxen, and Honesdale, PA areas. He loved to bring humor to the pulpit; he focused on meeting the needs of the poor and the homeless; but most of all he wanted people to know that God loved them!
Before entering the ministry, Val worked as a diesel mechanic and truck driver.  For a period of time, he also owned and operated a Radio Shack.  He began serving as a Methodist minister in 1995 and graduated from Wesley Theological Seminary and was ordained Deacon in 2002.  Val was a member of the Federation of Fire Chaplains, and served as Chaplain for the Kunkle Fire Department.
Val loved camping, hunting, boating, ultralight flying, and traveling. He loved spending time with friends, “Gramps Camp” with his grandchildren, and especially sitting on the porch at “Rocking Chair Ridge” with his beloved wife, Amy.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 23rd at the White Mills United Methodist Church at 11 am.  His family will receive friends on Saturday, 10 am until the time of service.  Private interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Galilee at the convenience of his family.
