On Friday, July 30, 2021, our dear son, Timothy Howey, passed away at the age of 16.

Timothy was a life-long resident of Honesdale, PA.  He was born on February 8, 2005, as a twin to Melinda Schwartz and David Howey Jr.  He was entering into his junior year at Honesdale High School this fall.  Timothy was a sweet, kind, gentle boy with a big heart and an immense love for his family, friends and pets.  He was especially fond of his helping his great uncles Billy and Gerry on their dairy farm.  Timothy would come home from the farm and loved to tell his family all about his amazing adventures he had and the delicious food his great aunt Sue would make for him.  He had great aspirations of taking over his great uncles’ farm to keep the “Hansen Bros.” farm which is a traditional dairy farm, alive and a legacy.  Timothy loved helping his great uncles during haying season, milking his favorite cow, Ginger, and tinkering with his grandfather’s tools. Timothy had a special bond with his sisters and twin brother which whom he loved to tease but was always their biggest defender and protector.   He was a member of Honesdale High School FFA.   He had a great love for International Farmall Tractors, his four-wheeler, and his Cub Cadet Garden tractors, which he frequently reminded his mother that they were indeed garden tractors and NOT lawn mowers.  He was his mother’s world.  Not a single day went by that he did not tell his mother that he loved her and gave her a hug and a kiss on her head.  Timothy was known for his wit, sparkling eyes and infectious smile that would light up a room.  He will be missed beyond any words.

Timothy is proceeded in death by his maternal great grandparents, Edwin and Alviena Black and maternal grandmother, Joan Hansen, his maternal Great Uncle, William Black, His paternal great grand grandparents, Charles and Evelyn Reitz.  He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Melinda and Adam Schwartz, sisters, Samantha Howey and Alexandra Schwartz, stepsister Gabrielle Schwartz, his twin brother, Jeremy Howey, stepbrother Joshua Schwartz, his maternal grandfather, James Hansen, his maternal aunt and uncle, Melissa and Gene Rickard, his great uncles Billy and Gerry Hansen and great aunt, Susan Hansen, and his “adopted big sister” Lily Boumil, all of Honesdale, PA.

Timothy is also survived by his father David Howey, Berkeley Springs, West Virginia.

Friends may visit Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale on Wednesday, August 4th, 4 to 8.  A memorial service will be held on Thursday at Grace Episcopal Church, Honesdale at 11 am.

To keep Timothy’s star burning bright, his family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Timothy Howey, Memorial Fund, C/O Wells Fargo Bank, Hawley, PA, so Timothy’s love of agriculture and his beautiful memory will live on through a scholarship for future, ambitious farmers like he was.
