Thomas Joseph Washeleski, 50, of Lancaster and formerly of Honesdale, PA, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton. Born on March 11, 1963, in Philadelphia, he is the son of Joseph Washeleski of Honesdale and the late Mary Pazel Washeleski. Thom was a graduate of Honesdale High School, class of 1981 and later graduated from Shippensburg University with a degree in Finance and Economics. He was employed at Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC) where he was a math tutor. An active person, Thom enjoyed going to the gym and working out. He loved baseball and was a lifelong Mets fan. He loved listening to music and watching movies, and could quote any line from any episode of Seinfeld. He will always be remembered by his friends, colleagues, and students at HACC for drinking numerous pots of coffee a day, supplying the tutors and students with donuts from Weis and half and half for the coffee, and wearing sandals and shorts no matter the weather. His knowledge of math, including calculus and trigonometry, was unsurpassed. Also surviving are his sisters, Patricia Washeleski of Plymouth Meeting, PA, and Catherine Rosenkrans of York, PA; nephews Ethan, Alex, and Seth Rosenkrans. Cremation services are being arranged by Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 1st for he and his father Joseph Washeleski who died on January 21, 2014.
