Mrs. Theresa Angela Soete Debelak, age 82 of Honesdale, PA died Friday, January 31st, 2020 at Ellen Memorial Health Care Center.

Mrs. Debelak was born April 6th, 1937 in Honesdale, PA. to the late Henry G. and Anna B. Soete. She was married to the late Stanley A. Debelak of Sheboygan, WI in Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago, on February 11th, 1961.

Mrs. Debelak is survived by her five children and eleven grandchildren. Daughter Jennifer and her husband Larry Gunther. Son Alex and wife Cathy with their three children Kyle, Christopher, and Ryan. Daughter Laura Zuiderveld with her two children Brandon Debelak and wife Emily and Jessie. Son Michael and wife Marcia with their four children Vince, Erica, Zachary, and Joshua. Son Hilary and wife Amy with their two children Jack and Maggie.

Terry attended Honesdale Catholic High School in Honesdale, Pa., Wayne Commercial School, Marywood University, Cornell University and earned her undergraduate degree from St Mary’s College of Notre Dame, IN. She had a career in dietary/foods and nutrition in healthcare facilities included working at Norwegian American Hospital in Chicago, Highland Park Hospital also in Chicago, Lakeview Nursing Home in Cheshire, CT, St. Francis Hospital in Jersey City, NJ and Lincoln Park Nursing Home, Lincoln Park, NJ. Terry retired as a Food Service Director. Years later, Terry worked as a volunteer at both Bethany Village and Ellen Memorial Health Care Center. She also enjoyed planning and coordinating many social events for the residents of Maple City Apartments in hometown Honesdale during her time there.

Following her years at St. Mary’s in South Bend, IN, Terry became an avid fan of the Fighting Irish. She enjoyed gardening both flowers and vegetables, and loved baking zucchini bread, cookies, and other baked goods.

She was an active member of the Third Order of St. Francis and a parishioner of St John’s the Evangelist Catholic Church in Honesdale, PA. Additionally, Terry was a passionate member of the Wayne County Historical Society.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10am Saturday, February 8th, 2020 at St. Mary Magdalen in Honesdale, PA with Fr. Christopher Sahd officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary Magdalen Cemetary in Honesdale, PA.

Visitation is from 4pm to 7pm, Friday, February 7th, 2020, at the Hessling Funeral Home, 428 Main Street, Honesdale, PA.
