Teresa Noreen Casper, 92, of Honesdale, died on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Ellen Memorial Health Care Center following brief illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, George A. Casper on April 21, 2003.
Born on April 17, 1925 in Honesdale, she was the daughter and last surviving member of the Frank W. and Helen M. Rickert Roos family. She was a graduate of Honesdale Catholic High School, class of 1942.
Later, Noreen worked at Wayne Memorial Hospital where she was a clerk in the home health billing department. She was a staunch democrat and enjoyed working the polls at Honesdale High School. Noreen was an avid New York Giants fan and lived and died for her team. She also enjoyed cheering for the New York Mets.
She appreciated nature, enjoyed watching the birds in her yard and lived for her dogs.
Noreen was a faithful member of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Honesdale and loved attending Mass at St. Mary Magdalen Church. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughers of the America, Court St. Martin.
Surviving is her daughter Lori Tolerico and husband Joe of Honesdale; her daughter-in-law Rebecca Casper of Cold Springs; grandchildren Stephen, Patrick, Brandon and his wife Sara and Greg; great-grandchildren Ana, Marisol, Joel, Isaac, Dominick, Lillian, Mason; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son Michael Casper in 2011, her brothers Robert Roos and Francis “Spike” Roos and her sister Dolores “Jean” Carmody.
As per her request, cremation was held, and a Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 8th at St. Mary Magdalen Church at 10am. Private interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery at the convenience of her family. Arrangements by Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale.
