Steven Lester Soden, 76, of Honesdale, died on Monday, November 14, 2022 at the VA Medical Center in Wilkes Barre. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, the former Linda J. Langendoerfer. The couple married on June 14, 1969.

Born on July 19, 1946 in Honesdale, he was the son of the late Lester and Doris Soden and Helen (Krosavic) and Ivan Darkes.. He was a US Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War. Steve later continued his education at Temple University where he received an associates degree.

For many years, he worked in the family excavating business, E. Soden and Sons in Honesdale. Following his retirement, he enjoyed spending winters in Florida.

An outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, he was a member of Upper Hills Hunting Club. He was also a member of the Honesdale Lodge # 218 Free and Accepted Masons, Anthony Wayne Chapter, Irem Shrine, the Wayne Pike Shriners, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the VFW Post 531 and the American Legion, Hawley.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Mark Soden of Honesdale; his daughter Sarah Nahman and husband, Michael of Honesdale; his brothers, David Soden of Carbondale and Daniel Soden of FL; a sister Billie Lopatofsky of FL; grandchildren, Steven and Dale Soden and Sadie Nahman.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Libby Brink.

A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of his family in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Honesdale. Arrangements by Hessling Murray Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale.
