Steven Emmett Macey, 68, of Equinunk, died on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at his home.  He is survived by his wife of 49 years, the former Christina M. Leonardo.  The couple married on June 16, 1967.

 

Born on March 19, 1948 in Honesdale, he is the son of Betty Hathaway Wood of Pine Mill and the late William Macey.  He was a Hancock High School graduate and later joined the US Air Force.  He was stationed in England during the Vietnam War where he was an airplane mechanic.

 

Steve was the Manchester Township supervisor until his retirement in 2013.  He was a member of the Pine Mill Methodist Church and caretaker of the Pine Mill Cemetery.

 

An avid golfer, he also enjoyed hunting and trapping. Steve was a Civil War buff and enjoyed his many trips to Gettysburg.  He had a room in his house dedicated to the Civil War.

 

Also surviving is his daughter Dawn Macey and husband Dave Kenyon of Lookout; his son Craig Macey of Sacramento, CA; a brother William Macey and wife Sue of Altura, MN; step-brothers Richard Wood and Marcelle Wood, Tom, Ed, John, Joe, Jack Wood; a half sister Mary Courage; a granddaughter Jessica Menotti and husband Dustin of Lookout;  a great grandson Blake Menotti; nieces and nephews Bub, Alan, David Macey, Chris and Kim Wood, Ashley Wood, Danny Wood, Heather Courage, Amber Chamblis and Robin Knabe; a great niece Kinsley and great nephew Miles.

 

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 15th at Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale at 11am.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday, 4-7.
