Derrick (Brown) Burial Date May 11, 2024 Funeral Home Hessling Funeral Home Share your Memorial with Family & Friends Shirley Brown Derrick, 87, of Waymart, PA, passed away on May 5, 2024, at Allied Services Hospice Center following a brief illness. She is the widow of Robert G. Derrick Sr. who passed away June 28, 2021. Born on August 31, 1936, in Honesdale, PA, to the late Archie and Grace Goodman Brown. Shirley worked for many years at Waymart Knitwear and retired from Dave’s Super Duper. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish and attended mass at St. Mary Magdalen in Honesdale. Shirley is survived by her children: Donna Derrick and companion Greg Johnson of Elizabeth City, NC, Robert G. Derrick Jr. and wife Trudy of Beach Lake, Mary Olver and husband Jerry of Honesdale, Thomas Derrick and wife Kim of Waymart. She is also survived by her former son-in-law Paul H. Mathews of Waymart, 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, with one on the way. She was preceded in death by a sister Evelyn Johannes and brothers Orval & Maurice Brown. Shirley’s family would like to thank the staff of Wayne Woodlands Manor, Geisinger CMC and Allied Services Hospice Center for the excellent care provided. Funeral services will be on Saturday, May 11th at Hessling Murray Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale at 11 am. Private interment will be St. Mary’s Cemetery, Honesdale. Friends may visit on Saturday, 9:30 until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Shirley’s memory to either the Waymart or Beach Lake Fire Company. Memorial gifts may also be made in Shirley’s memory to Allied Services Hospice Center.
