Weist, 82, of Honesdale, died on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Julia Ribaudo Extended Care Center in Lake Ariel. She was preceded in death by her husband James P. Weist on July 17, 2015. She was born on June 25, 1939 in Damascus. A housewife and mother, Shirley began working at Katz’s and later worked at the Honesdale Movie Theater and the Central House. Shirley enjoyed playing the lottery and trips to the casino with family and friends. Surviving are her sons Darrin Weist and wife Jeanna of Honesdale and Jimmy Swendsen of Florida; her daughter Tess Gillow and husband John of Beach Lake; grandchildren, Katelyn, Allison and Christian Weist, Jonathan Gillow, Troy, Charity, Aaron and Ethan Swendsen. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter Stacey Gillow and grandson Darrin Weist Jr.; her adopted parents Willie and Grace Collins and her siblings. Funeral services will be held at Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale on Monday at 11 am. Friends may visit 10 until the time of service.
