Born on October 6, 1932 in Honesdale, she was the daughter of the late John H. and Minnie (Seelig) Gumpper. Following high school, she attended nursing school. Shirley worked for several factories in the area. She eventually became a caregiver for Allied Health Services. She found great joy in helping others.
She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Honesdale and participated in its Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration Chapel. She loved to cook and arranging flowers and wreaths.
Surviving are her sons, Timothy Finan and wife Barbara of Honesdale and Kevin Finan of Honesdale; her daughter, Rosemary Miller and husband James of Honesdale; 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Michael P. Finan; her brothers, Leo and Joseph Gumpper and her sister, Margaret Menotti.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Sept. 6th at St. Mary Magdalen Church, Honesdale at 10 am. Interment will follow in Queen of Peace Cemetery, Hawley. Friends may visit Hessling Murray Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale on Thursday, 4 to 7.
