Scott Robert Helferich, 37, of Honesdale, passed away suddenly on Saturday, April 18, 2020 at home.
Scott, born September 25, 1982, was the son of Diane (Baer) and Robert Helferich Jr. of Honesdale. He shared his home with his beloved dog, who was more like a child, five year old morki Penny. Scott was a 2001 graduate of Honesdale High School and earned a Bachelor Degree from East Stroudsburg University in 2006. Scott worked in the family business, Baer Sport Center, and cherished his friendships with co-workers and customers.
Scott most enjoyed spending time with his best buddy and sister, Jillian Helferich, and his best friends, who just happened to be his cousins, Vanessa and Andy (Tot) Bertot, Mike and Macey Watson, and Cyle Baer. He was proud of Kobe White’s and Gavin White’s athletic abilities and loved watching them at games. He adored Elliana Bertot and was always amused by her antics. Scott was eagerly awaiting the arrival of Mike and Macey’s baby due in late June.
Scott was a huge Philadelphia Eagles fan and loved going to home games with his best friend since childhood, Vince Rickard. Scott’s favorite pastimes were motorcycling and participating in the M.S. poker run and other charity events, skiing, snowmobiling, gun shoots with his cousin and friend Dylan Sites and going to the gym. He liked going to action movies and always bought the new releases on DVD. But his passion was spending time with his family. Especially holiday dinners at Aunt Gail and Uncle Jay Watson’s house, Super Bowl parties at Vanessa and Andy Bertot’s house, spaghetti dinners an Uncle Duane and Aunt Angie Baer’s house, and birthday dinners with Jillian at Kyoto’s. Scott had a wonderful sense of humor and loved playing pranks on Macey at work. Scott was humbled by and thankful for the unconditional love and support he received in the past. In addition to the family mentioned above, Scott also leaves behind his grandmother, Gerry Baer of Honesdale, Aunt Arleen Zutant of West Pittston and several cousins, all of whom he loved dearly.
He is preceded in death by his grandfather George Baer, his grandmother Mildred Helferich, his grandfather Robert Helferich Sr., his aunts, Serena Helferich and Sandy (Helferich) Murphy, and his uncle Robert Zutant.
