Obituaries » Salvatore P. Giglio Share your Memorial with Family & Friends Salvatore P. Giglio, 78, of Beach Lake, passed away at home after a long and fulfilling life on Sunday, August 11, 2024. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Judith Ann Streb on January 30, 2023. The couple married on May 26, 1985. Born on December 23, 1945 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Pasquale and Katherine (Lazarro) Giglio. Sal worked for many years as the Sales Manager at the former Owl Chrysler Plymouth Jeep in Honesdale. Later, Sal was the Developmental Officer for the Wayne Memorial Health Foundation and was currently in charge of fundraising for St. Dominic’s Academy in Honesdale, where he played a big role. He was proud the school recently became a foundation. Sal was an active member of the community. He was a member of the Honesdale Lions Club, the Chamber of Commerce, and volunteered at the Wayne County Library. Sal had a great interest in local politics and supported several campaigns. “The Sicilian Altar Boy” was a faithful and active member of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Honesdale and would attend Mass at St. Bernard’s Church in Beach Lake. He was a New York Yankees fan, enjoyed listening to the Beach Boys and Johnny Cash, and loved watching “The Godfather” with his grandsons. Sal developed many lifelong and enduring friendships throughout his life. He was charismatic, kind-hearted, and had a great sense of humor. He sincerely cared for others and everything he did was in the best interest of his family, friends, and community. Surviving is his daughter, Karin Giglio Pelachik of Towanda; his grandchildren, Joshua Morgan and fiancee Madison Bacon, and Joel Pelachik; his former wife and friend, Christine Zuber; and former son-in-law, David Pelachik. He was preceded in death by his sister, Josephine Giglio. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 16, 2024 at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Honesdale at 10 am. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Friends may visit Hessling Murray Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale on Thursday from 4 to 7 pm.
