Rosemarie Mowery of White Mills, died on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Allied Hospice in Scranton. She is survived by her husband Gary D. Mowery. The couple would have celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on July 20th.

Born on May 18, 1945 in Sussex, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Issacc and Eleanor (Courtwright) Vreeland. She received her nursing degree from Orange Memorial in 1967 in Orange, NJ. She then joined the US Army Nurses Corp as a Second Lieutenant and was stationed at Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii from 1967 to 1969 where she would meet her husband.

Following her honorable discharge, she spent over 40 years in nursing. She began at Franklin Hospital in Franklin, NJ and then Wallkill Valley General Hospital which later became St. Clair’s of Denville.

A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Rose loved spending time with her family traveling and cruising. She enjoyed catching up with family and friends on Facebook.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter Karen Beth Francesconi and husband Scott of Hawley; her son Gary D. Mowery Jr. and wife Patricia of Bangor, PA; sisters Nancy Vreeland of Hamburg, NJ and Gail Campbell and husband Kenneth of Sparrowbush, NY and her brother David Vreeland of Hamburg, NJ; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Vreeland of MI; her grandchildren, Rebecca Lyn Francesconi, Hope Hachmeister and husband John Smith, Shyloh Benning and husband William and Dakota Mowery; great grandchildren Charlette, Layla and Logan; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother Robert Vreeland.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 24th at the Tabernacle Bible Church, 455 Grove St. Honesdale at 1 o’clock. Arrangements by Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale.
