Ronald J. Gardas, 80, of Honesdale, died on Sunday, August 22, 2021 with his family by his side. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, the former Veronica M. Geiger.

Born on June 18, 1941 in Honesdale, he was the son of the late John A. and Anna (Gitch) Gardas. Ron began his career in the seafood business working with his father at Knob Discount which later relocated to the old Romich skating rink. He later owned and operated his own business, Joy Tyme and All Tyme Inc.. He was also the owner and operator of Sunrise Terrace Mobile Home Park.

Following his retirement, Ron spent his summers in Honesdale and could be found at the Honesdale Golf Club playing a round of golf. He and Veronica enjoyed spending their winters in Florida where he loved to go fishing.

A big supporter of youth sports, Ron was the former president and coach of the Honesdale Biddy Basketball Association and a former coach of Missy Basketball. Ron enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Lone Pine Hunting Club. He was also a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Honesdale.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Jeffrey Gardas and companion Debby Lamkin of Honesdale, John Gardas and wife Jean Marie of Honesdale, James Gardas and wife Jade of Hawley and Joseph Gardas and companion Stacey Diehl of Honesdale; his daughters Jennifer Randolph of Honesdale and Julie Gardas and companion Scott Schuermann of Hamlin; his sisters Joann Weigand of Hillsborough, NJ and Florence Carmody and husband Robert of Honesdale; grandchildren, Deanna, Gabrielle and Brooke Gardas, Ashley Murosky, Rylee and Madison Randolph and Kevin Bayly; several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, Aug. 30th at St. John the Evangelist Church in Honesdale at 10 am. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Arrangements by Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Dessin Animal Shelter, 138 Miller Dr. Honesdale, PA 18431.
